Peñíscola Price 55 € (Tuesday & Thursday)
The town of Peñíscola, situated in the north of the Community of Valencia, is set in a privileged part of the Spanish Mediterranean. The municipality of Peñíscola covers 79Km 2 , 17 of which run parallel to the coastline, an area which is fairly distributed between woodland areas and warm Mediterranean groves of oranges, olives and almonds.
The old city, which is crowned by a XIV century castle-stronghold and was the residence of Pope Benedicto XIII, stands on top of an impressive rocky crag which rises 64 metres above the blue sea. A sandy isthmus joins it to the mainland, which in the past was swept by waves in the midst of storms, turning the city into an ephemeral island.
Providing a contrast with the old quarters are the modern streets and wide avenues of the tourist area. Warm waters in summer and autumn are shared between the extensive beaches of fine sand which lie to the north of the fortress, and the beautiful coves flanked by steep cliffs which can be found to the south.
Morella Price 62 € (Wednesday & Friday)
Morella has innumerable reasons to be visited. All of the major civilisations - Iberians, Celts, Greeks, Romans, Carthaginians and Arabs - have left their mark on the capital of the “Els Ports” region, where Bronze Age Neolithic remains have also been found.
The city was built at the foot of the castle, and is surrounded by a stout wall. Its privileged enclave, portico streets, Manorial homes, enchanting locations and rich cultural patrimony are just some of the motives that have resulted in it being declared a Historical Artistic Site.
These lands were inhabited approximately 60 million years ago by the dinosaurs, and now aspire to become Patrimony to Humanity.
Valencia (Sightseeing Tour) Price 12 € (all days)
Valencia can be a city of clichés: the light, the moon, the gun-powder, the paella, the flowers, the fallas... they are keys which attempt to explain what words cannot tell. It is necessary to visit and get to know Valencia to verify that centenary traditions live together with modernity; that sea and city are compatible; that the green colour of farms can be kept together with a modern urban scheme; that Valencia is unique at night and during the day.
But the capital of the river Turia is more than that. In addition to the innumerable attractions which the city has had for years, now there is a series of showy infrastructures such as the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) and the Museo Príncipe Felipe (Prince Philip Museum) which, as they are located in this environment, are linked to culture. Valencia has put the icing on the cake, although it will not have a rest and will go on decorating its succulent presentation.
